The Waseca High School varsity gymnastics team wrapped up an impressive 2024-25 season, demonstrating resilience, consistency, and individual excellence. Competing in multiple dual meets, invitationals, and the Section 2A Championship, the Bluejays showcased remarkable growth throughout the season, culminating in a season-high team score at sections.
A Season of Improvement
The Bluejays started the season with a score of 123.575 in their opener against Byron but quickly found their rhythm, steadily improving at each meet. Their hard work paid off with multiple first-place finishes and a season-best team score of 134.275 at the Section 2A Championship, where they placed 4th overall.
Some of the team's strongest performances came in meets against St. Peter (133.200), St. James (131.050), and Blue Earth Area (127.900), all resulting in first-place finishes. The team found particular success in Vault and Floor, consistently posting high scores in these events.
The KMT Invitational on January 25 was another season highlight, where Waseca placed 3rd overall with a score of 134.250, demonstrating their ability to compete at a high level against strong opponents.
Bella Wikan’s Record-Breaking Season
A major force behind Waseca’s success this season was senior gymnast Bella Wikan, who had an outstanding year filled with individual victories and historic performances. Bella consistently dominated in the All-Around category, finishing first in multiple meets and securing top placements at invitationals and sections.
Her season highlights include:
Section 2A Championship (2/13/25) – 3rd place All-Around (36.450), 1st on Beam (8.875), and 4th on Floor (9.375).
KMT Invite (1/25/25) – 1st place All-Around (37.250), winning Vault (9.200), Bars (9.450), and Beam (9.100), and placing 2nd on Floor (9.500).
St. Peter vs. Waseca (2/6/25) – 1st place All-Around (36.750), winning Vault (9.350), Bars (9.450), and Beam (8.625).
Multiple first-place finishes in Vault, Bars, and Beam throughout the season, showcasing her consistency and versatility.
Setting New Records
Bella Wikan not only led her team to success but also etched her name into the Waseca gymnastics record books. She now holds multiple all-time program records, further solidifying her legacy:

Bella’s impact on the Waseca gymnastics program is undeniable, as she now holds three all-time individual records and ranks second in school history on Floor, setting a new standard for future athletes.
State Meet Bound
With an incredible season behind her, Bella Wikan has qualified for the 2025 MSHSL State Class A Gymnastics Meet. She will compete on Saturday, February 22nd, at Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul, with the Class A competition beginning at 11:00 AM. This marks a significant achievement in her gymnastics career, and she will proudly represent Waseca on the state’s biggest stage.
